Google Ads is a great way to get your app in front of more people. App promotion ads allow you to bid on keywords users search for your app. For example, if you were a game developer, you could bid on words like “games,” “fun,” or any games related word. Another advantage of using ads with your app is the traffic it can bring from outside sources such as organic searches from google or referrals from other websites. If you have an excellent free app, users may want to spread the word by linking to your app in their blog or social media. That can be a great way to get more traffic, but it would be like throwing money away if you don’t have an ads budget set up for these occurrences.
When designing your ad, one of the most valuable tools is the targeting options. These allow you to let Google know where and who you want your ads to show up. One of the factors in making effective ads is knowing who your target audience is to show them relevant information. Is it young people? Adults? Males? Females? Once you figure out who your core fanbase is, start looking into demographics to narrow it down even more. You can find out if they have a specific income, what kind of phone they have, or even the type of apps they use. With this information, you can choose exact keywords so your ads will only appear to interested people in your product. That is a handy tool that not many people know about or understand. The other great thing about demographic targeting is that it gives you a target audience for free!
App promotion ads are just what the name implies. They’re ads that promote apps. These can be inside your app or sometimes on a separate tab that you have to click on to download the app from the Play Store. Once you set up this type of ad with Google, there is no need for any further action from yourself unless you want to change something about it later on down the road. That is why I consider them one of my favorite types of ads since they don’t require a lot of hands-on management after being set up and running.
You don’t have to manage the ad after it’s set up. The app promotion ads are entirely automated to appear on Google searches, and anywhere else you want them to show up. They are targeted at people interested in your product which increases CTR tremendously since they will download your app more than others who might just be looking around randomly one day. You can choose between showing an “Install” button or a “Pre-install” button which gives you two different direct-user options. That is great if you have an older audience because one could argue that they don’t understand the concept of clicking install and may think it means installing another browser.
There are a lot of reasons why app promotion ads are so great. Not only do they increase your downloads, but it’s also an easy way to get more traffic from specific sources like the ones mentioned above. You may not think that there is enough interest in apps to make this type of advertising worthwhile. Still, if you start thinking about how many people use search engines every day and look specifically for apps for certain things, it’s incredibly cost-effective!
