Hi and welcome! I’m Samantha, NickMetrics spokesperson. In continuation of our SEO video series by NickMetrics, this video explains how you can use different domains for your website blog page. Better put, if you have a website blog page, exactly how can you use different domain for the page? This video answers the question. To direct traffic to your site from different domain names, you can simply point two URLs to the blog page. There are two ways to go about this: redirecting one of the URLs to your primary domain or creating an alias for one of them.
In simple terms, a redirect occurs when you type a web address in the address bar and you, as a visitor, are sent another URL which is different from the one you originally typed in.
Creating an alias works exactly like a redirect. The only difference is that the website name shown on the address bar, in this case, does not change. It’s like using two different picture frames for the same piece of artwork. In other words, the website content is the same for the URLs but the change observed is in the URL shown in the address bar.
It is easy to create an alias for many domains to display on the same page but it is paramount that you register the domains with a valid registrar. In many cases, your website can benefit from having different addresses (domain names) for different reasons. Multiple domains can help with marketing, maximizing traffic, among others. Other than that, it helps you target a specific demographic, and create an easy-to-remember domain for a particular campaign. When registering an additional domain name, there are instances when this could help get more people to your site. Another way to go about this is to use an alternate domain name to create a simpler address which is way easier to share on marketing and advertising materials. Ultimately, because blogs are the default mode of website building nowadays, you might want to run a blog on a different domain.
You can embrace the use of different domain for your website blog today. If you enjoy this episode, please hit the subscribe button and stay tuned for more upcoming episodes in this SEO web series by NickMetrics. Thank you for watching!
